She, Her & I
Presented by Upstage at the Playhouse
Written by Mikaela Corrigan
Directed by Nicholas Pavan
Produced by Cats in the Cupboard Productions
Nora left Newcastle at eighteen to study family law in Sydney. Clara moved away at twenty-one because she fell in love. Lou still lives at home, having dropped out of university; no one really understands why.Older, but definitely not wiser, three estranged sisters reunite under the roof of their childhood home in Newcastle’s hottest summer on record to care for their mother in her final days. A broken air conditioner, one sister’s newfound obsession with playing instruments (badly) and another’s nicotine addiction, these sisters are anything but one big happy family.
As tensions rise and old resentments bubble to the surface, the sisters are forced to confront the cracks in their relationships and rediscover what binds them together - all amidst the emotional devastation of their mother’s impending death.
Following their much-loved 2025 production of This Restless House, Cats in the Cupboard Productions return with She, Her and I, a tense, touching and humorous exploration of female family dynamics and the healing power of the ocean. A local story that captures the messy beauty of love, loss and letting go.
Opening Night includes post-show Q&A with Cats in the Cupboard team.
