37th Newcastle Jazz Festival

Newcastle Jazz Festival has earned an enviable reputation amongst music fans as a regular annual event and as such attracts patrons from all states in Australia as well as New Zealand.

This 37th Newcastle Jazz Festival will provide a rich variety of music with multiple bands providing 55 hours of music featuring jazz styles from Traditional Jazz, Mainstream, Swing, Contemporary,  Blues, Jazz Orchestras, Gospel, Gypsy, Bebop, Smooth, Fusion and Big Band.

Some of Australia’s and the Hunter’s finest musicians will provide a wide range of styles designed to cater for every taste.

With four rooms and dance areas all under one roof, it’s designed and curated so that patrons can move between one stage area to another, totally immersing themselves in the musical experience.

Murray Scoble, President of the Newcastle Jazz Club, is “proud of the rich history of jazz and jazz musicians that the city of Newcastle has enjoyed. This festival has been running for 37+ years, which is an amazing achievement.”

The Festival is held in the one iconic, amazing and conveniently located space – Newcastle City Hall.

The Jazz Festival runs over three days, and there are more sessional passes this year so patrons can come and enjoy LIVE Jazz at your convenience.

We are again collaborating with Newcastle Improvised Music Association (NIMA) to involve and encourage younger musicians to perform in this significant event.
