Acclaimed soprano, Eleanor Lyons, and her conductor and pianist husband, Vladimir Fanshil, will perform a sweeping and enchanting concert in the grand Concert Hall of City Hall this November.

Featuring glorious Italian repertoire from La Bohéme, La Traviata, Gianni Schicchi, as well as sublime songs by Rachmaninov, Grieg and Australia's own Elena Kats-Chernin. You will have a rare opportunity to hear this musical power couple in a personalised, informal concert, where they will narrate the concert with poetry and personal stories about the music and themselves. 

The talented couple, who reside in Vienna, are in Australia as Eleanor was recently invited to perform with the highly regarded conductor Simone Young and the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. Eleanor has previously delighted Australian audiences during her debut with Opera Australia as Donna Anna.

The duo will be supported by Ben Adler - Violinist and composer - and previously named  ACO Emerging Artist.

Australian soprano Eleanor Lyons is known for her versatility, deep musicality and fresh interpretations. With a beautiful voice and virtuosic technique she breathes life into characters, reveals philosophies and delivers uplifting and dynamic performances. Naturally at home on stage, Eleanor passionately shapes every detail of opera, orchestral concerts, chamber music and solo recitals. A down-to-earth approach to fine music has resulted in a number of ongoing fruitful collaborations with various orchestras and conductors.

Innovative Australian conductor Vladimir Fanshil is quickly establishing himself as a versatile artist covering symphonic, operatic and ballet genres. After a fruitful collaboration as assistant conductor to Iván Fischer (2013 - 2017) Vladimir has continued to make noteworthy debuts and returns, most recently with the Budapest Festival Orchestra, Konzerthaus Orchestra Berlin, Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra, Orchestre Nacional D'ile de France, at the Bashmet Festival, Odessa National Philharmonic and at the Odessa National Opera.

Ben Adler is the Artist in Residence at St Andrew's College, within the University of Sydney. He is a graduate of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, where he was leader of the Chamber and Symphony Orchestras and 2014 Student of the Year.

In 2016, Ben was named an Australian Chamber Orchestra Emerging Artist, and has since performed and toured nationally as both section member and soloist with the ACO and the ACO Collective.

A keen chamber musician, Ben has toured Australia and Europe as first violinist of the Hillel String Quartet, and with pianist Will Cesta. In Sydney, he has played with the Australia Piano Quartet, the Sydney Art Quartet and the Opus Now Quartet.
