Presented by Civic Theatre Newcastle
Civic Bar Beats is a series of free Friday night music sessions with a relaxed summer night vibe. Featuring a great line up of talented local musicians we’ll be throwing open the doors from 5pm and inviting guests to drop in, either before a Civic or Playhouse show, or just because they want to enjoy the music, food and happy hour from 5-6pm.
Lachlan first picked up a guitar in 2016 and in only a few months he was writing original material, and just one year later, in October 2017, he played his first performance at Lizotte’s in Newcastle.
Since that time Lachlan has been playing hotels and events in Newcastle, the Hunter Valley, Sydney, and the Central Coast establishing himself as a solid performer and building up a solid fan base of all ages.
In May 2018 Lachlan’s song ‘Little Things’ earned him the #1 spot on Triple J’s Unearthed Roots chart with Triple J ‘Roots n’ All’ presenter Nkechi Anele commenting, “There is something about Lachlan’s voice that makes you forget to breathe when you listen to this song.” and airplay on Triple J followed. ‘These Days’ held the #12 spot at the same time with Triple J Unearthed Music Director Dave Ruby Howe saying “There’s a coastal breeze blowing through this super chill track.”
He has played Bouddi Boogaloo Festival, The Bitter and Twisted Festival and opened for Cold Chisel’s Ian Moss, Tex Perkins, Mark Wilkinson, Ash Grunwald, American singer-songwriters Joe Pug and Justin Townes Earle, Nick Saxon, Jordy Maxwell, Surftrash and many more
He currently has two tracks from his debut EP, produced by artist and Ziggy Alberts producer Garrett Kato and released on Nov 2019, being played on Triple J Unearthed and Triple J. ‘Once More’ has had over 60k streams on Spotify.
He’s just recorded a bunch of new songs with Garrett with the current single Little Too Late available now. At just 17 his music is as laidback as a summer breeze and his indie folk pop style defines his outlook on life. Very chilled.
Lachlan’s style and songwriting are as organic and as natural as the wind and as ARIA Hall Of Famer Kasey Chambers put it “Oh to have this much talent at that age!”
