The 7 Stages of Grieving

Presented by Grin & Tonic Theatre Troupe &  Queensland Theatre Company

An enduring masterwork of Australian Indigenous theatre. This new adaption of The 7 Stages of Grieving is a wise and powerful play about the grief of Aboriginal people and the hope of reconciliation. [Read more]

The Merchant of Venice

Presented by Bell Shakespeare

Regional Access Programme

This year there will be two free 75minute workshops covering plot, design and characters to prepare your students for the production. These will be held in Newcastle City Hall at 9.30am and 11am. Max 40 students per workshop. Schools may be combined if necessary.

John Bell Scholarship
A once in a lifetime opportunity to spend one week with Bell Shakespeare in Sydney. Open to full time high school students studying in 2017.

Auditions - these will be held in Newcastle City Hall on Monday 7 August from about 1.30pm - 6pm.
Each audition takes the form of a 15minute one-on-one masterclass with a Bell Shakespeare Arts Educator. Students perform their monologue and then work with the Arts Educator on different aspects of their presentation.
Students must pre-register for the auditions as audition spots are extremely limited and will be filled on a first-in basis (max 1 per school please). If you are unable to get an audition spot, please note that you may audition via video upload.
Students who wish to audition with Bell Shakespeare must be at least 16 by 31 Dec 2017 and still be in high school full time in 2017.
Students must present a 1-2minute monologue (Lists attached or they can choose their own).

Teachers Notes

To enhance the educational value of your theatre experience we have teacher's notes available to some of the shows. They will provide you with the background information and ideas for classroom and excursion activities. Teachers notes will be emailed to schools upon booking.
